Last night crowds gathered at Central Bank on College Green to celebrate The Young Designer of The Year which showcases the best young talent in the world of fashion here in Ireland.

I was fortunate enough to attend this fabulous night and what a great night it was!

Now in its fourth year, young designers from across Ireland showcased their pieces, and competed for the title of Young Designer of the Year at Ireland’s largest fashion event. The 2016 judging panel, made up of Ireland’s leading fashion commentators, icons, designers, and buyers, are in search of the most creative and innovative designs that can own the runway.

The panel includes the Irish Independent’s Fashion Editor, Bairbre Power (head judge); renowned fashion photographer, Barry McCall; TV3’s Head of Day Time, Debbie O’ Donnell; owner of the Design Centre at Powerscourt Centre, Aisling Kilduff and Director of Fashion & Beauty in Arnotts, Deirdre Devaney.

Last year’s winner, Katie Donohue, (pictured above) is preparing to pass on her Young Designer 2015 title after a very successful year.

JJ Donnelly from The National College of Art and Design was chosen as this year’s rightful winner who received a €2,000 bursary from West Coast Cooler to help her to complete her first collection.

The judges had a hard task as there were so many amazing individual creative designs and if you follow me on snapchat you would have seen me snapping through them all!

For this event and seeing as Wednesday was so lovely and mild, I opted for a Zara floral frill dress (here) I don’t tend to wear my skirts that short but I fell in love with this one and thought it would be perfect in the colder weather with opaque tights and ankle boots. However on this occasion I teamed it with simple barely there black sandals (here) and a little vintage bag.

I hope you all have a nice weekend,

Catch up again soon,

Rebecca Rose Xx
