Hollyblue SS Showcase

Hollyblue, one of Monaghan Town’s newest boutiques put together a fantastic fashion to showcase their new Spring Summer 2016 collection in the Westenra Hotel.

To kick off the show the proprietors Gemma and Amanda introduced our MC for the night, the lovely Caroline Mc Elroy. For those of you who don’t already know Caroline, she is a stylist for Marshes Shopping Centre, Dundalk and a TV presenter. Also present on the night was Alison from Hats Off Ally. Alison demonstrated her skill and artistic flare for hats and fascinators, we were fortunate enough to get a glimpse at her amazing collection, which the models wore on the night.

Vlogging has really taken off in the last few years and no better woman to show us this than Laura Mullaney from The Beauty Commandments. Check out her Hollyblue fashion vlog here.

To incorporate my styling prowess on the night, I was asked to select my favourite pieces from the show. With so many cool casual pieces and fabulous occasion wear from brands such as Soma, Blonde and Wise, Traffic People, Salsa, Maisy and a new Danish brand called ICHI, I had a hard but fun task at hand.

The little cream jacket below by Soma was a favourite of mine, for its versatility and worthy addition to any wardrobe as an investment piece.

My second casual option, the Aztec wrap dress by Free People, because of its style and design will flatter most body shapes and returns year after year to the high street in different patterns.

For occasion wear I choose the gorgeous cream culottes and sequined gold top. This look would make any girl smile from ear to ear this SS16, especially for the communions and confirmations, which we see a lot of this time of year. Don’t be afraid to experiment ladies.

This brings me to the stunning silk maxi from Traffic People. This dress with its lovely pastel tones, elegant V-neck and sleeve are also a fantastic option for those summer weddings.
