Ladies Day!

Ladies day at Dublin Horse show is such a momentous event for any fashion loving lady. This year was no different for me. If you haven’t been before, I would highly recommend it for a day out especially if like me you have a love for fashion and horses!!

I had been planning my outfit for a few weeks and was thrilled with the outcome.

On the day, we had an early start in Peter Mark’s, so at 8am mum and I headed off. For my head, I opted for a large white creation from Suzanne Ryan Millenary, to complement I went for a slick side roll, formed perfectly and effortlessly by my wonderful stylist. I was so surprised how quickly it went up, hairdressing is an art form.

Makeup was next on the agenda, being a lover of Bobbi Brown for years; it was no contest for me. I was looking for a natural look which wouldn’t detract from my outfit and I wasn’t disappointed. For me it’s a bonus that two products are redeemable against every makeup application, what’s not to love? With makeup and hair done, off back to our hotel we went; to get all glammed up in our fab outfits.

We reached the RDS at about 11:45 and queued to register for the ladies day competition. Thankfully, we didn’t have long to wait as the queue moved quickly. Once we were official registrants, a glass of prosecco was the only way forward. After such a busy morning, we deserved some light refreshment. Oh and of course to calm the nerves before having to get up on stage in front of all of my fellow stylish ladies!

When on stage, we were interviewed by Laura Woods (TV3 Presenter) and judged by Pippa O’Connor (Model, Blogger and all round Fashionista) and Bairbre Power (Fashion Editor of Irish Independent).

My outfit was a mix of designer brands and high street. I found my top and trousers when I was out with my mum and sister a few weeks ago. I wasn’t even looking when I decided to try on these stunning beige trousers and cream crop top. They are both Self-portrait and were found in Snooty fox, a fabulous boutique in Dungannon. After trying them, I knew they were a must; they were so elegant and chic, perfect for Ladies day!

On a separate occasion, I found a little cream jacket and pearly cream clutch both in Coast in Craigavon. The jacket was the perfect length and worked so well with the pants and top. I was over the moon to see it all worked impeccably. A winning combo perhaps?

Being such a lover of all things fashion, I wanted to break the mould of the usual midi dresses and skirts, which have been recurring each year. So I decided upon the trouser suit with its wide leg pants, very much on trend for A/W15. It was perfect for our unpredictable weather and not previously seen at Ladies Day before.

Since I already owned the cream stilettos from Topshop, all that was left was my hat. I got onto the internet and trawled through every milliner until I found the right one. Suzanne Ryan Millinery said she would have the perfect hat for my outfit and she was right, I was so excited with how seamlessly it came together.

I may not have won this year but I had such a wonderful day. I can’t wait to take part next year. Congratulations to the deserving winner, her own creation – some things you just can’t beat.

I hope you liked my ladies day outfit as much as I did!

Stylishly yours,

Rebecca Rose x
